TOOLS NEEDED

Installation Tools for Decking

  • Cali Bamboo recommends using a 10"-12" miter saw with 40 teeth.

  • A screw gun or cordless drill with variable speed setting is recommended for installing BamDeck and a drill bit

GETTING STARTED

Note: All sides of your BamDeck™ should be sealed with TWP® 300 grade products before installation. Additional colors available upon request.

Note: The maximum recommended distance between joist when installing BamDeck boards is 18" on center.

1) Securing the first board:
Pre drill BamDeck board and install screw or "face screw" at a 90 degree angle into the deck board. Do not install screw on an angle and do not over tighten screw. Make sure first board is completely straight and secured before proceeding to next step:

2) Installing BamDeck hidden fasteners:
Position fastener in groove of secured BamDeck board over the center of the joist. Begin to screw into fastener hole once it is correctly in place but do not tighten all the way until all other fasteners are in place for the length of the board and you are sure it is positioned correctly.

3) Installing BamDeck Boards:
Once all fasteners are in place, slide the next boards into place making sure that the fasteners are well seated in the grooves of both boards. Use a tapping block to tap the board tight into place. Stand on unsecured board while tightening screws in fasteners. All Decking requires air flow (gapping) to allow for temperature changes . When installed correctly BamDeck hidden fasteners allow for a consistent 1/4 gap between boards.

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 for full deck area

5) Butting a Seam:
When cutting boards to start rows, Alternate lengths of boards so they fall randomly on the 18" centers of different joist. If possible avoid butting two consecutive rows on the same joist. Place fasteners at ends of both boards and secure.

6) Securing the last board:
Finish installing last row the same way that you started by "face screwing"(step 1) into the rim joist. Fascia boards provide a nice finished look and also cover the "groove" in the last board. Leave a 1/4 inch gap between the last board and the Fascia board.

7) Gapping:
Allow an 1/8" of an inch for board to board end gapping and 1/4" when abutting to solid objects.
